When I did this trip I drove clear across the continent. It took me 30 days as I was taking my time. Hal bob the comet was in clear visibility from one coast to the other. In Joshua tree I decided that I would snap some photos of it. (my first star shots actually.) Joshua tree is an exceptionally clear sky I was told. But I found more stars on the dock up north in Gravenhurst Ontario. :) Must be the light from California.
